Facts about Acupuncture
in Wyoming

1. There is no licensing
of acupuncturists in Wyoming. However,
there are many persons throughout Wyoming practicing acupuncture
without any kind of Wyoming license.
2. Only a Wyoming licensed doctor of
medicine (MD), osteopathy (DO), or chiropractic (DC) can legally
practice acupuncture in Wyoming.
3. However, there is no training or
competency testing required for a MD, DO, or DC to do acupuncture
in Wyoming. Many physicians, osteopaths, and chiropractors practicing
acupuncture in Wyoming do so with little or no training and no state
recognized competency testing.
4. Although Wyoming
does not license acupuncturists, 44 other states do. Those states
require that acupuncturists have the education to qualify for and
then pass the Acupuncture National Board Tests. These tests are administered
by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine (see NCCAOM.org for
education requirements).
5. Dr. Borgstrand has completed the
education and passed the Acupuncture National Board Tests. He is
licensed to practice acupuncture in Utah, Alaska, and Montana.
6. However, since there is no licensing
of acupuncturists in Wyoming, Dr. Borgstrand practices acupuncture
under the auspices of his Wyoming chiropractic license. He is the
only licensed acupuncturist legally practicing in the state of WY.
